"One thing needful" is a powerful phrase, and one that holds deep meaning for every Christian. These three words, spoken by Jesus Himself, serve as a reminder of what is truly important in life.
In this ever-changing world, where our priorities and values seem to shift with each passing day, it is crucial for believers to reflect upon these words, and constantly to realign themselves with the teaching of Jesus. Sadly, it has become increasingly common for people, young and old alike, to be consumed by the allure of a materialistic and corrupted world, leaving little time or room for God in their lives.
Attending church, and making a small contribution, may seem enough; but in reality, it is no more than a superficial display of faith. Even within the church, people have become more concerned with their own comfort and convenience than with true devotion and service to God. The modern world may offer temporary distractions and instant gratification, but it cannot replace the solace and peace that come from a strong connection with God, and from fellowship with other believers.
As Christians, we must always remember that, amidst the chaos and temptations of the world, the one thing that truly matters is our relationship with God. No possession and no earthly desire can ever satisfy our souls as He can.
Jesus said, "But one thing is needful" (Luke 10:42). Let us resolve, from today, to focus on that one thing.
