Jesus willing, I hope to share Biblical reflections more frequently, if not every day. As a young reader captivated by Western cowboy stories, one expression etched itself into my heart: "die in the saddle." I carried that sentiment into my working life and, after retirement from the corporate world, into twenty-two deeply fulfilling years of serving the Lord in many different ways. Not as an ordained priest, but simply as one grateful to be used by God, who can accomplish His purposes through anyone, even an unassuming donkey.
Then I encountered 1 Chronicles 29:14-15. Those verses quietly but profoundly reshaped my perspective. Nothing is truly ours; we are only pilgrims and stewards for a little while. So, at the earliest opportunity, I laid down the demanding financial responsibilities that I had carried for over two decades. I have not laid down my calling, only my armour. My prayer is that this new season will allow me to turn my heart even more fully towards the Lord, and the quiet work He still has for me.
